CCTV Footage helps nab crooks.
Cape Town - Two reservist constables were arrested for extortion in Cape Town on Saturday, Western Cape police said.
"It is alleged that the complainant was threatened by the reservists and they demanded cash," Captain F C van Wyk said.
He said in a statement the two reservists went with a man to a ATM at St George's mall, where R900 was withdrawn from his bank account.
"The complainant registered a case docket at the Cape Town central police station and with the assistance of CCTV-footage the reservists were arrested and detained at the police station."
The man's money was given back to him and a case of extortion was under investigation.
The reservists, aged 26 and 32, would appear in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court on January 24
